Performance Evidence

Evidence is required to be collected that demonstrates a candidate’s competency in this unit. Evidence must be relevant to the roles within this sector’s work operations and satisfy all of the requirements of the performance criteria of this unit and include evidence that the candidate:

locates and applies applicable legislation, documentation, policies and procedures

implements the requirements, procedures and techniques for the safe, effective and efficient completion of spreader operations including:

applying diagnostics techniques

applying hand-eye coordination

disposing of environmentally sensitive fluids and materials

applying of chemical and fuel safety measures

works effectively with others to undertake and complete the spreader operations in a way that meets all of the required outcomes including:

communicating clearly and concisely with others to receive and clarify work instructions, and co-ordinate activities

demonstrates completion of conducting speaker operations that safely, effectively and efficiently meets all of the required outcomes on more than one (1) occasion including:

carrying out pre-start, start-up, park-up and shutdown procedures

completing the work plan

operating and relocating the spreader

discharging materials from the spreader

maintaining written maintenance and equipment records


Knowledge Evidence

The candidate must demonstrate knowledge in conducting spreader operations through:

accessing, interpreting and applying the organisation and site requirements and procedures for;

risk assessment and hazard management for situations working at heights

group preparation for spreader relocation

identifying, accessing, interpreting and applying technical information regarding spreader operations including:

boarding & disembarking procedures

relocating

operational signals

positioning

discharging

selective placement of materials as part of low dumping, high dumping and capping

identifying spreader equipment characteristics, technical capabilities and limitations including:

maximum loads, outputs, limits & tolerance levels
